The Three-64 monophonic synthesizer was written with the perfomer in mind. The focus was to combine user friendly, hands on accessibility with a trademark sound. In order to achieve this, two firmly established giants of vintage synthesis were combined. The clean and logical layout of the ubiquitous minimoog and the trademark 8bit wavetable synthesis of the MOS SID Chip, the sound chip of the Commodore C64, the bestselling homecomputer of all time. The oscillator of the three-64 offers the user the the standard waveforms of the SID (Variable Pulse,Triangle,Saw). Much like the original they waveforms are quite crude and contain unintended overtones. All three oscillators can by synced and cross-modulate each other. Oscillator 3 in addition offers a true "C64" sampling experience. Samples of 8khz at a bitdepth of 4bit can be recorded and manipulated, just like the unintended feature of the MOS SID chip that sound programmers discovered in the mid 80s. A 12db saturating filter with the C64s Hi/Band/Low/Notch -filter settings allows further tuning of the sound. The three-64 is the performer's choice for quick and high quality 80s 8bit chiptune sounds and easy accessibility. This Synthesizer is a five-star-rated donation to the Native Instruments Reaktor Ensemble Library and can be accessed here.
